What
is a Counsellor
Simply having someone to tell your
troubles to can often be a great relief, but in the modern world people
with the time and inclination to be good listeners are sometimes hard
to find.
A counsellor is a trained listener who will not feel "put
upon" or want to tell his or her own problems in return.
A good counsellor, however, will do more than just lend
a sympathetic ear. S/he will help us to see and understand the process
by which we can become trapped in our own issues and "unable to see
the wood for the trees". This insight can often enable us to make
choices instead of being powerless victims.
Counselling aims to address the cause of the problem rather
than just treating the symptoms.
Counselling
is strictly confidential.

gender or sexual orientation.
